How is it calculated?
Floor area × actual ceiling height × assigned volume reference value = estimated heating requirement in watts. Any allowance you choose is added separately. For model selection, the result for each room is rounded up to the next whole watt.
The default is Typical building from 2008 / C / HWB approximately 100 kWh/m² per year, using 22 W/m³.
This application uses the actual ceiling height you enter.
Annual space heating demand (HWB) and heating output are different quantities. The HWB figures in kWh/m² per year are used here only to describe the table categories. They are not converted directly into watts or presented as calculated annual electricity consumption or a running cost forecast. The selection does not determine your building's energy class.
Alternatively, you can enter a room heating load already determined by a professional. The table category is then not used to calculate that room's output requirement. The app does not independently calculate climate, heat losses through individual building components, air changes or target temperature. An unsuitable reference value can lead to undersizing or oversizing.
The table values provide guidance only.
Understanding radiant efficiency
Radiant efficiency is not overall electrical efficiency. For direct electric heaters, it describes radiant performance under defined test conditions. DIN EN IEC 60675-3:2021-12 specifies a measurement method for this purpose.
The calculator therefore does not adjust the estimated heating requirement using radiant efficiency. Example: a room with an estimated requirement of 1,100 W still requires coverage by 1,100 W of rated thermal output. A radiant efficiency of 60%, for example, would not mean that only 60% of the electrical power becomes heat; it describes how heat output is divided between radiation and other heat transfer mechanisms.
A higher radiant share can influence the direct warming of room surfaces and the mean radiant temperature. It does not imply proportional electricity savings. The building envelope, target temperature, controls, use and mounting position remain essential to heating demand and comfort.

Selection rules and lighting status explained
Selection considers your preferred installation, heater type, manufacturer and lighting preference. Lower excess output and a manageable heater count are preferred. In addition to identical models, each range may include a combination of two models. When calculated results are equal, classic panels and documented lighting accessories take priority. Where suitable, the compact preview includes both manufacturers. An absolute optimum across every possible combination is not guaranteed.
For easyTherm, automatic selection requires at least one heater per 30 m² or part thereof, for example three heaters for 65 m². For REDWELL, a separate rule requires at least two heaters above 30 m². A manually chosen minimum replaces this rule. Actual positioning and heat distribution require separate planning. If the required minimum exceeds the selected maximum, no suitable option is shown.
Yes: A model-specific light frame is listed. No, according to the catalogue: The documentation explicitly excludes one. Check compatibility: A compatible version is not clearly documented. Not specified: The catalogue lists no matching accessory; this does not prove that none is available.
Lighting power is shown separately and does not count towards the heating requirement. REDWELL light frames are rated IP20 according to the catalogue. A heater's IP rating does not automatically apply to its light frame.
Radiant efficiency: For some product ranges, the stored catalogue documents a reference to testing under IEC 60675-3:2020. Where no model-specific percentage is provided, no value is estimated. Missing information is not interpreted as lower efficiency and does not affect the ranking of suggestions.

Explore running costs
The building category's HWB figures are not used as electricity consumption. This is not a consumption forecast: the scenario multiplies the selected heater output by your own operating assumptions and electricity unit price.
Equivalent full-load hours represent calculated hours at full rated output, not simply the time a thermostat is switched on. Lighting, hot water, standing charges, other appliances and any on-site electricity generation are excluded.

Hot water cylinders, underfloor heating mats, outdoor surface heating, pipe trace heating and control accessories are not suggested as interchangeable heating panels. Special heaters for workstations, outdoor areas or industry are labelled for information and excluded from automatic selection.
